Copa del Rey: Real Madrid players performances against Leganes

The first leg of the Copa del Rey fixture between Real Madrid and Leganes was under intense pressure for the home team having lost to Real Sociedad at Santiago Bernabeu in their last weekend La Liga fixture.

Luckily for under-fire Santiago Solari, who could be replaced by José Mourinho  before the end of the season, his men scored three goals against Leganes.

The Santiago Bernabeu outfits weren’t in their best during the game but they were able to pick very important points ahead of their Copa del Rey return leg next week.

Here is the rating of how each Los Blancos players performed throughout the encounter:

Goalkeeper

Keylor Navas — 7/10

The Costa Rica international was given another rare start against the Leganes side and he did wonderfully well all throughout the encounter.

He made a point-blank save to deny Braithwaite’s header from sailing into the top corner in the opening half.

Defence

Alvaro Odriozola — 7 / 10

He was very mobile and active as he joins the attack too often. His was brought down by Leganes defender in the 18-yard box, leaving  referee Jesus Gil Manzano with no option but to award a penalty kick which was converted by Ramos.

Nacho — 6 / 10

The Spaniard is definitely out of form as he looked lethargic throughout the game. He failed to adequately cover up for the attack-minded Odriozola.

Sergio Ramos — 7 /10

Stepped up to score the first goal of the night from the spot. He was one of the best defenders on the pitch but there is a need to up his game in subsequent matches.

Sergio Reguilon —  7 /10

He didn’t really have much to do throughout the night because Leganes failed to pose any threat at the final half of the pitch. He put up an encouraging display throughout the time he spent on the pitch.

Midfield

Federico Valverde — 7 / 10

He wasn’t lively in the first half of the game but he put up an awesome display in the second period. He need to improve his game if he must retain his place in Solari’s list of regular starters.

Casemiro — 6 / 10

Far from his best. He committed too many errors and fouls. He needs to regain his form as soon as possible.

Dani Ceballos — 6 / 10

Not a bad game for the midfielder, however, there is room for improvement

Attatck

Lucas Vazquez — 6 / 10

The Spanish international scored the second goal of the encounter, however, his display wasn’t as good as we all anticipated before the game.

Karim Benzema — 7 / 10

The Frenchman’s experience was hugely seen during the game and he played a role in Vazquez’s goal.

Vinicius Junior — 8 / 10

The Brazilian youngster put up a man-of-the-match display and he was a joy to watch.

His 12-yard goal was the highlight of his game and he could be the best man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Santiago Bernabeu.

Real’s Copa del Rey Substitutes

Isco — 7 / 10

The want-away player continue to get overlooked by Solari in the starting lineup but he was wonderful when he finally get his chance to feature.

Chelsea are hoping to sign Isco and his performance yesterday could cause the Blues to hasten their chase after his signature.

Brahim Diaz — Not rated

He made his official debut for the Los Blancos but didn’t feature for long in this Copa del Rey fixture to earn much ratings.
